cynicism. it's the affliction of our generation, a personal affliction of mine, and it is an absolutely useless trait. Conan took the time to stomp on cynicism during the last few minutes of his final night as host of the Tonight Show.

"All I ask of you is one thing(and I'm asking this particularly of young people that watch): please don’t be cynical. I hate cynicism — it’s my least favorite quality and it doesn’t lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen."

wow. i felt like he was talking straight to me. and then i thought this whole mess with NBC might be good, not just for Conan, but for every young person who tuned in and heard his appeal.
